Support for vulnerable young people in Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian

We provide supported accommodation and a visiting support service to young people aged 16 to 25. Our support is for young people who have experience of, or are at risk of homelessness, young people who have been looked after by social services and young people experiencing homelessness or mental health issues.

At a glance

Horizons supports young people to:

  • Access and sustain suitable accommodation. This may be in one of 25 Castle Rock Edinvar properties allocated to young people working with Horizons, or in the person's own home
  • Develop independent living skills
  • Engage in their local community
  • Access education, training and employment opportunities
  • Identify personal goals and develop plans to maximise achievement of these goals

At Horizons we have an established and qualified team of 5 Senior Support Workers and a Service Manager.

We help young people in every aspect of their lives - helping them develop the skills to become independent. Support includes:

  • Building and keeping relationships
  • Keeping safe and well
  • Budgeting and managing money
  • Support with finding and managing a home
  • Building an active social life
  • Getting involved in the local community
  • Getting into education and employment
  • Support with current or past emotional issues.

Involving young people

We listen to every young person so that they remain in control of their plan and support and that their priorities are at the centre of everything we do. Service and organisational development is driven by the people we support at Horizons through their influence and involvement.

Quality of service

We have robust internal monitoring and evaluation processes. This means we maintain the highest possible standards for the people we support. We continually seek new and better ways to enhance the experience of the people we work with.

We are registered and inspected by The Care Inspectorate.
