Setting standards for staff

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) regulates education, training and sets out standards of conduct for care and support staff.

It also provides the official register of care and support staff. Registration has an important role in improving safeguards for people using services.

An experienced and qualified team

All our staff hold - or are working towards - a suitable qualification for their job. This enables them to register with the SSSC.

Staff must hold the following Scottish Vocational Qualification to register:

  • Support workers: level 2
  • Senior support workers: level 3 and 2 modules of the professional development award in supervision
  • Team leaders: level 4
  • Service managers: registered managers' award/leadership management award.

In certain cases, staff can hold other qualifications. These must meet the criteria determined by the SSSC. Check out the SSSC website for more information.
